Morgan has been a town planning consultant for 15 years. He has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Queensland, as well as a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and Philosophy. Born and bred in Central Queensland he remains interested in the issues impacting on regional areas, and has worked and travelled extensively in regional and remote Queensland. He has previously worked for international corporate consulting firms, and is now focusing on providing a bespoke town planning service that aligns with his interests and expertise, and is dedicated and responsive to client needs.

Morgan has worked across Queensland providing a range of strategic planning services to local government. This has included preparation of planning schemes and local area plans, planning studies relating to land use, demographics, and settlement patterns, as well as expert advisory on controversial or complex development and land use matters. 

Morgan has successfully completed the formal review of LGIPs for Central Highlands Regional Council, Mareeba Shire Council, Torres Shire Council, and Livingstone Shire Council, and has provided advisory services to Brisbane City Council and Gold Coast City Council during the preparation of their LGIPs. This understanding of the operation of the infrastructure charging framework also provides the expertise to assist in review and negotiation of Infrastructure Charges Notices issued by local government, including recalculation of establishment costs where required. 

Morgan provides a range of development advisory services. He has particular experience in preparing and managing applications for major infrastructure items such as airports, waste management facilities, and water cycle management infrastructure. Morgan also provides third party development assessment services for local government on complicated matters or where probity issues require independent assessment. 

Morgan is acknowledged as a technical expert, and has been included on the panel of pre-approved reviewers for Local Government Infrastructure Plans, as well as being part of an expert panel assisting local governments in amending their planning schemes to align with the recently commenced Planning Act 2016. Morgan also provides expert advice and input to appeal proceedings in the Planning and Environment Court.

Morgan Wilson Planning Consultant operates as a single practitioner. This agility allows Morgan to dedicate time to individual projects if required, providing assurance that your project has top priority. He also regularly works as part of multi-disciplinary teams on larger projects, and is experienced in integrating seamlessly into larger project teams.
